CASTLE HOWARD
The construction of Castle Howard took more than 100 years before it could be said to have been finally completed, and spanned the lifetime of three earls and numerous architects and craftsmen. As the house was built and decorated so the grounds were filled with lakes, temples, monuments and a grand mausoleum. A thriving estate grew up encompassing several villages and acres of farmland.

NADFAS
The National Association of Decorative & Fine Arts Societies was launched in 1968 by Patricia Fay with eleven societies and has expanded to over 330 societies in the UK, 10 in Europe, 28 in Australia and 2 in New Zealand. With 90,000 members worldwide, NADFAS works towards promoting and preserving the arts.

NATIONAL GALLERY
The National Gallery, London houses one of the greatest collections of Western European painting in the world. These pictures belong to the public and entrance to see them is free.

NATIONAL PORTRAIT GALLERY
The National Portrait Gallery has developed a number of ways of sharing the works in its collection with audiences outside London and has been at the forefront of such developments within the museum community.
From partnerships with country houses and long term loans to historic locations, to an energetic programme of touring exhibitions, and short term loans to temporary exhibitions created by museums and galleries throughout the UK. In any recent year the NPG has over 270 works on long-term loan and more than 100 works out on shorter term loans.

The objects of the Society are to:-
Foster and promote the maintenance, improvement and development of artistic taste and the knowledge, understanding and appreciation of the arts in the Pocklington district.
Establish or further the work of charitable institutions yet to be formed or already existing for the promotion of the said objectives.
